Temporary Works Engineer - HS2 Civils

Job Title: Temporary Works Engineer Type: PermanentLocation: Birmingham Salary: up to £45,000 Private Medical Insurance Car/Car Allowance The CompanyMy Client is an established Civil Engineering contracting company who are undertaking Civil & Piling Works for HS2. They have a friendly and personable team, have been trading many years and have low staff attrition.Due to new projects and increased demand my Client is now looking for a Temporary Works Engineer to assist the Lead Temporary Works Engineer on the HS2 Civils & Piling work. The RoleYou will report to the Lead Temporary Works Design Engineer and be responsible for design & delivery of Temporary works to HS2 Sites. Identify and assess the scope of temporary works for each site.Provide support, advice, or management of temporary works to the site teams.Ensure preparation of design brief following design and construction programme.Ensure site team has been made aware of any residual design risks temporary works elements and there are adequate and suitable control measures in place to mitigate against those risks.Possibly undertake temporary works designs of guide walls, reaction piles for test piles, Dwall trench stability, temporary works for Dwall and pile cages (lifting points, bands, trapping beams…) including production of design deliverables for each design package (e.g., design report, design certificate, design risk assessments, management of CAD for design drawings).The CandidateAt least 3 years experience in a similar role Must possess a valid CSCS card.Must hold a valid CITB TWS qualification.Experience in Soil Mechanics / Geotechnical Engineering / Piling/ Diaphragm Walls required.Knowledge of Eurocodes EC7 and EC2 and relevant British Standards is required.Knowledge of BS 5975 : 2019 is an advantage.Ability to demonstrate technical and practical skills such as being able to read, understand and implement drawings, sketches and specifications.Ability to identify where temporary works are likely to be required on site.Ability to independently recognise their knowledge and skill limitations and the limitations of those they will be working with.Ability and independence to make engineering decisions that will not be compromised by commercial, programme or other pressures.Capable and having the knowledge and experience to assess the competence of TW Supervisors.Having the authority, strength of character and ability to stop the work.Knowledge and experience to fully understand the assumed methods of construction and loading constraints.Strong problem-solving skills.Must possess a valid CSCS card.Must hold a valid CITB TWS qualification.Apply If you think you may be interested in this role, please send your CV to Recommended skillsSoil MechanicsGeotechnical EngineeringTesting
