Controls and Instrumentation Technician

Job DescriptionThe C&I; Technician shall be responsible for carrying out planned and unplanned maintenance activities to ensure safe and efficient operation of the plant.Ensure maintenance plans and targets are achieved safely, economically and within the environmental limits of the Facility. Work alongside other functions as necessary, assisting with supervision of contractors. Carry out fault diagnostics rectifying as required. Management of calibration records and implementation of instrument calibrations. Fully conversant with instrument loop drawings and P&IDs.; Be pro-active and creative in problem solving and demonstrate initiative. Conduct plant inspections and area safety inspections. Ensure that all reporting within the Computerised Maintenance Management System is effective and followed through to completion promptly. Broaden experience by covering the C&I; Engineer's duties as required. Ensure that all activities within the Facility are carried out in a safe manner in line with laid down procedures. Carry out risk assessments to ensure activities are completed in a safe manner at all times. Work as part of a team striving for continual improvement in minimising environmental Health & Safety risk within the ER.The Successful ApplicantKnowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications Essential Understanding of Environmental and H&S; issues and their impacts (training will be given).Ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels, both verbally and written.Ability to work without supervision (including lone working at times).Able to think logically and solve problems effectively and efficiently.Able to work to tight time schedules. Desirable Computer literate (CMMS, Outlook, Excel, Word etc).Ability to co-ordinate work activities including contractors. Experience, Qualifications Essential Experience in C&I; engineering within the process industry or power plants.Experience working with Computerised Maintenance Management systems.DCS/SCADA experience. Desirable Experience in working with Safe Systems of Work (PTW). Training will be given. Essential Possess appropriate technical qualifications such as a City & Guilds / NVQ (or equivalent) including a recognised apprenticeship. Desirable Formal H&S; qualifications.Full, clean UK driving licence.ONC/HNC in a technical subject.
